Introducing "Mid Autumn Lanterns"

With October rolling in, everyone have started to draw either Inktober or Halloween. They're all really fun ideas and maybe I'll draw a Halloween illustration myself by the end of this month.

For now though, since I come from an Asian background, we have a holiday in the middle of October when the moon is full. It's called "Trung Thu" in Vietnamese or "Mid Autumn Full Moon Lantern Festival" in English (I don't know the actual name so I translated it myself). It's one of my favorite holidays, we get to have mooncakes, watch street performances, and children would go around their neighborhood with their lanterns. It's a very charming time, especially at night when the lights and lanterns are shining.

So I want to capture that atmosphere of the holiday. I used watercolors and drew inspiration from various places and artists, having the lanterns floating up in the night sky with the full moon while the girl and her dog gaze into the scene. You can check out the full image in "Gallery".
